You’re about to head to Brazil with The Maine for the South American leg of the 8123 Tour, are you stoked to get down there with them?
Yeah it’s always fun to play international shows! It’s cool to know people dig your music so far from home. I’m excited to be back in Brazil especially as a part of this tour. The guys from The Maine are going to play with me as my backing band for my set too, which should be a lot of fun!

And then straight after that, your debut full length record, “Big Skies” drops on May 27th, How excited are you about the release?
Extremely! It’s gonna be a great feeling when the 27th rolls by. I’m looking forward to it.

You’re also playing Vans Warped Tour this summer. What are you most looking forward about the tour?
Being out there with lots of friends. It’ll be great to get back in front of a lot of old A Rocket To The Moon fans and hopefully some new ones as well!

You formerly played a few dates of Warped Tour back in 2009 with your band, A Rocket To The Moon, how do you think the tour will differ as a solo act?
Well I’m playing on an all acoustic stage so it will be quite a bit different. I think it will feel more personal.

How would you describe the musical transition from A Rocket To The Moon, to Nick Santino & The Northern Wind, to your new solo record, and following that, how has the response been from fans and followers?
I think it was a natural thing. I’ve always written music the way I do now. It’s always been how I wrote on my own so it was an easy transition. I think getting people back on board is the harder part.

Take 5
1) If I could have dinner with one famous person, dead or alive, it would be… Anna Kendrick
2) My most recent Google Search was… “hells angels ’69 movie”
3) The last thing I ate was… an airplane breakfast sandwich
4) If I had a Luxury Yacht, I would name it… Queen Luigia
5) The most played song on my iPod is… She Likes Hair Bands – Butch Walker

What would you say the biggest difference in your sound and style is between your former releases and your upcoming record?
Lyrically – it feels more honest and real now.

You released your single “Long Way Home” back in February, and you recently premiered your latest single “Can’t Say I Miss You” online, would you mind telling us a little bit about how those songs came to be and why you chose to release them first?
Long Way Home is a relatable song about how the radio sucks. I co-wrote it with John O’Callaghan (of The Maine). That one was recorded back in December, earlier than the rest of the record so we wanted to release it sooner. It’s a part of a new project of collaborations within our roster – the 8123 Single Series. Can’t Say I Miss You is a tune about missing someone but realizing you’re better off so you try and convince yourself you don’t miss them.

Do you have a personal favorite song off of Big Skies?
Keep On Going is a good one. I’m excited for everyone to hear it!

If you could describe your music and your sound in one word, what would it be?

You have quite the busy schedule these next few months with the album release and the tours, how do you balance your time with so much going on and what keeps you motivated?
I just take it slow and try not to over work myself. It’s easy to get flustered and somewhat jealous when you see others doing things you want to be doing. It just takes time and patience.

I’d like to end off with the Quote, “what would you do if you knew you could not fail?”
Run for president.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
I hope you dig the record! It has a lot of meaning and I’m happy to share it!

Big Skies is currently available for pre-order over at www.81twentythree.com and will release on May 27th.
