Musicians Unite to Honor Sir Elton John After Touring Retirement Announcement

At a press conference held in New York in January, moderated by Anderson Cooper, legendary hall of fame musician Elton John announced that his 3-year, 300-date Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, will be his last. “I haven’t had much time off in my life,” Rolling Stone reported. “I definitely want to make a couple more albums, but that will be easy since I can do that at home. I want to see friends. I want to spend time at my house and with my photography collection. I’m really looking forward to this tour and I’m really looking forward to the 300th date.”

As John eases into retirement, musicians from all over came together to honor his songs with Revamp: The Songs of Elton John and Bernie Taupin, and the country themed “Nashville Edition”: Restoration: The Songs of Elton John and Bernie Taupin. Both collections were released on April 6th, 2018, and featured various artists from Lady GaGa, and Sam Smith, to Willie Nelson, and Chris Stapleton. Revamp and Restoration feature Ed Sheeran’s “Candle in the Wind” rendition, Mumford and Sons version of “Someone Saved My Life Tonight,” and many more, pulling together all genres of music to honor the legendary songs of Elton John.
