Maren Morris’s new album, GIRL has broken the record for the largest streaming week ever for a country studio album by a woman.
With over 24 million streams in its first week, Maren Morris’ sophomore album is making history, claiming the spot previously held by Carrie Underwood’s 2018 record, Cry Pretty. GIRL debuted this week at #4 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, along with rising to #1 on the iTunes All-Genre Album Chart.
The Grammy Winner is currently supporting the record on the GIRL World Tour with Cassadee Pope, and will be joined by RaeLynn starting in April. “This song pulled something out of my soul the day @sarah_aarons, @gregkurstin and I wrote it,” Maren wrote on Instagram of the title track ‘GIRL,’ “and I couldn’t shake it. I hope it brings some comfort and peace to your inner critic. Love yourselves and love each other.”
The record showcases Morris’ strikingly powerful vocal range, layering catchy pop melodies through her country roots. Featuring collaborations with Brandi Carlile and Brothers Osborne, GIRL is complete with dynamic lyrics that cover everything from the sounds of falling in love, to anthems of female empowerment.
“It is what it is, and we love who we love. Not everybody gets what we’re going through, but all my favorite people do.” – Maren Morris, “All My Favorite People”
